Categories
One category is usually much bigger than you think
People guess streaming. It often is not — the tools and the storage add up quietly while the entertainment gets all the blame.
Why the split matters more than the total
A total tells you whether to care. A split tells you where to start. Cutting across the board is unpleasant and rarely survives a month; dropping the two weakest things in your largest category usually sticks, because the rest of that category still covers the need.
The question about categories is the one doing most of the work here. The others narrow the range so that the estimate at the end is not simply a restatement of the number you first thought of.
